Rites of the full Worm Moon - March 2020
Rites of the full Worm Moon - March 2020
Join us to celebrate the Full Worm Moon on Sunday March 8th
Cohost for March - the amazing and talented Jo Sullivan!
This moon, also called the full Storm Moon, or Seed Moon is named for the time of year when the ground softens and earthworms emerge from the thawing soils. It is also the first of three supermoons, which means that the full moon’s orbital path coincides with its perigee. To us on earth, that means that it is closer, and appears 7% larger.
This is also the last full moon before the vernal equinox on March 19th. Spring is on its way! The famous Pennsylvania groundhog Punxsatawney Phil did not see his shadow this year, and according to legend, that means we’ll have an earlier spring. Inspiration is in the air. Delight is near palpable. This Seattle sunshine has been intoxicating.
But also, it’s so important that we don’t rush things right now, that we stay the course. Each buried seed needs its own time to bloom. We need it too. This is the time to really ask ourselves what it takes to TRUST our own process, to have PATIENCE with ourselves. If you have been busier than you can handle, going at break-neck speed, this month’s circle is for you. If you have been fixating on the process instead of the purity of your heart’s true direction, this circle is for you. LIVE the divine life you’ve chosen instead of just managing it.
This moon falls in Virgo, the sign of the patient virgin. It’s also the sign of purity, of service and sacrifice, of seeing to every detail, and relishing the particulars. We’ll bring presence to the little things we overlook, remember the delight of showing up in our own skin. We’ll explore methods to grow our own sense of trust, in ourselves, in each other, and in the world. It takes courage, but that’s why this circle occurs.
We will gather from 7-9pm to bring community, ceremony and spellcraft to the occurrence. This may or may not be like other celebrations you’ve attended. We will blend ritual, writing, and movement. But more importantly, we will blend our hearts to stir up the courage needed so badly in the world today. Please bring a journal and writing utensil.
